I've been renting one of those modems from my cable company for over a year at $3 per month, and realized I could buy my own. Fortunately for me there was a rebate of $20, so it was worth buying one. It is the same model Comcast uses, and has been highly reliable for us for over a year now. I figured at $36 per year to rent it, I may as well own one, especially since the rebate put the price down to just under $30, and no shipping fee. It is easy to set up and just continues to work day in/day out. Since I work from home, this is very important to me! Also works well with the router and wireless systems on our computers (we have 4 on-line). Highly recommend.

I finally realized I was dumping $$$ to Comcast every month renting their modem so I decided to purchase my own. This has been a very easy product to install and use. I especially like the feature that allows me to disconnect from the internet connection when I am not using my computer. It was far less expensive buying from amazon.com than several electronics online retailers.
