The Worst Printer I have ever owned! December 28, 2008 W. Schoonmaker (Charlotte, NC) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the 7280 after my old workhorse HP Photosmart 2410 just died one day. I had so much good work out of the 2410 I was determined to go with HP again. After 6 months of terrible service and many, many calls to HP I finally invoked my Max assurance warranty and got my money back.
The HP 7280 had the following problems
* Always pulled two sheets of paper with every printout * Was EXTREMELY NOISY particularly during scanning * Burned through ink like it was free * Never showed me the ink level status, this feature was simply broken * Had incredibly bloated software install * The poorest scanner I have encountered in many years * Held very little 8.5x11 paper, only about 50 sheets reliably * Did I mention how LOUD it was?
About the only thing that it had going for it was that the Vivera ink could be found pretty cheaply in those photo packs that included the 150 sheets of photo paper. Anyway, I'm usually pretty easy on technology products but I felt I needed to share my dissatisfaction with this product with the world as it is indeed, the worst printer I've ever owned.
Buyer Beware!
good, but not so good December 26, 2008 hit2cho (Los Angeles) i was hyped when i first received this printer. setting it up on a PC was horrible (especially wirelessly). i opted for using the USB instead. that worked perfectly. however, on a mac, i just connected the printer using the USB and i needed no further software installed. now that was sweet.
the software for the PC is horrible. i had my fan constantly running on all my PC's after i installed the printer. when i uninstalled it, the fans would stop running as constantly. but when i reinstalled, it all went back to the usual. but i figured i could live with the constant sound of fans running.
the ink is quite expensive also. cartridges run for about $10 each, but are fairly small. so i always keep 2+ cartridges of each color. the fact that there are several different color cartridges is a plus, mainly because you replace an individual one instead of the whole color cartridge.
the ink smears fairly quickly. that is why i gave this printer three stars instead of four. pictures weren't really all that good, either. the ink will smear from pictures with the slightest of humidity.
the printer also has a fax machine, scanner, and copier. this comes in handy and helps eliminate having a scanner, fax machine, and copier alongside the printer. these features work very nicely; so they made me rate this item three stars instead of two.
overall, this printer is not bad. it is not ugly, and it definitely isn't the worst printer. i feel that HP could have done a much better job. for intense printing, however, i would recommend a Brother laser printer.

The HP C7280 is all that I expected. The real star was the service. I selected the free shipping which was 4-5 day service. I ordered it one day and the next afternoon it was on our porch. Now you can't beat that!
waste of paper and my time December 21, 2008 H. Ashe (S.F.Ca.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
great printer with these exceptions: always printing a spacer sheet in between each print (waste of time and paper) and so easily goes OFF LINE and having to set it up ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not a Good Printer - Poor Quality December 18, 2008 Robert Beard (Fort Worth, TX) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I did not have any problems loading the software for this printer. I connected this printer through USB, as printer functions work faster through USB connections, rather than networking.
However, when printing Photos, the Skin Tones were Never Correct. The faces were always very dark, as well as the rest of the pictures. After working with HP on this problem for Over 6 hours, and downloading other drivers, the Skin Tones were still the same. I tried just copying some pages and the printer could not pull through the regular 20# paper. I had to remove the paper several times in trying to get the printer to take the paper. Borderless printing on 4 X 6 paper was OK, and had no trouble pulling it through the printer. Just the paper in the regular bottom tray. Copying was OK for the output, but had trouble pulling the paper through the printer. I never got around to testing the Fax features, as that was not high on my priorities list.
