NOT MAC COMPATABLE December 26, 2008 Suntrust Gift Card (GA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is probably a wonderful product but it is very misleading. It comes with a MAC driver installation disk but the disk doesn't completely install on the MAC so you cant use it, there are no actual buttons on the unit not even a power button and no lights to show that it is working. it looks great but after trying all christmas day to install it me and my husband gave up! we loaded it onto our PC it worked great on the PC easy installation but all his art work is done through the MAC so this would not work for us. MAC user beware.
Scanner review December 13, 2008 Karen L. Alford (USA) The product was easy to install and set-up. It works well with my existing printer. The software needs a little practice before I can use all of the settings.
ANTOnline - defective scanner and useless customer service December 11, 2008 Rare Necessities (North Syracuse, NY, USA) Purchased from ANTOnline. The scanner will only scan once in awhile; sometimes, instead of scanning, it let's out a whining sound like a lobster being boiled; sometimes it just sits there while I stare at it. Contacted ANTOnline within 3 days to request an RA number, as the item obviously is defective --- they refuse to take the item back. The scanner, the software, the instructions, and the box are in the same exact condition that we received them in, and yet ANTOnline refuses to take the scanner back.
We are, as you might imagine, unhappy with the product, and even unhappier with ANTOnline --- I wish I had checked Google first to see how others had fared with ANTONline --- now I see a great deal of info regarding their complete lack of customer service. I certainly wish I'd waited to buy this from Amazon: at least then, if the scanner was defective, I'm sure Amazon would help us out. As it is, we will be filing an A-Z Claim with Amazon as soon as possible (we have to wait until Dec 18). Pretty silly for a company like ANTOnline to sell a defective product and then refuse, in any way, to back it up.
I got what i paid for November 23, 2008 T. Foreman (philadelphia) The mustek 11x17/A3 scanner is a reasonably priced alternative to the higher end, more expensive A3 professional scanners on the market. That being said, you get what you pay for. Paying $1000 or more for a high quality A3 scanner you expect to get a quality return for your investment. Paying $100 for an A3 you can expect to get dubious quality for your investment.
If you need a professional performance scanner then you'd be better off paying the premium for a more expensive model. If this scanner's purpose is for home/family/private use and 'high' quality is not a priority then this scanner will meet all of your needs
Displeased with Mustek as a whole. November 14, 2008 KieferSkunk (Covington, WA) My wife received this scanner as a birthday present, but unfortunately the scanner ended up being defective - images were blurry, had a lot of artifacting, and half the image was lighter than the other in most cases. I had a difficult time getting through to Mustek's customer support (they NEVER replied to the three emails I sent, and it was difficult to talk to them over the phone).
When I finally got through to someone, they were very unfriendly with me over the phone, they refused to issue an RMA on the scanner until I snail-mailed or faxed them a copy of my father-in-law's Amazon.com receipt (they would not accept an order number or a copy of the receipt via email), and then they sent me a rather unfriendly email with shipping details. Mustek is not paying for shipping like most companies do with under-warranty products, and they insisted several times that if I send *anything* (even the box) that they didn't specifically ask for, I will not get it back.
While I know some of this is standard operating procedure, I'm more put off by how unfriendly this company has been and how inconvenienced they seem as a result of our having received a defective product. We will not be doing business with this company again, and if we're not completely satisfied with the replacement, we will be asking Amazon to take this scanner back for a refund.
