nightmare all-in-one printer January 6, 2009 T. golden-aviles After three months of owning this printer the nightmare began. It first stopped printing black ink, kodak tech gave a new printhead and ink cartridges. Now two years and eight printheads later, they still tried to say they are upgrading their printheads. After long negotiations they agreed to send a new printer, new printhead(why separate I dont know), and ink. I dont think this will fix the problem, because the printer is poorly designed. If you buy a kodak printer you will need this phone number on speed dial 1-800-421-6699 and Good Luck.
Print head malfunction January 1, 2009 Terry A. Shackelford (Blytheville, Arkansas) I print about 35-50 pages a month - mostly black ink. I bought this printer thru a TV special and it came with 2 extra color and 4 black cartridges. Two of the black cartridges did not work. The printer just quit printing today which is less than 7 months after purchasing. I went online to the Kodak site and they are sending me a new print head at no cost which should arrive in 3 - 8 days. When I was online researching the printing problem, I found several review sites that have listed the print head problem as very common. Hopefully, the new print head will remedy the problem for good. If it does this again, I will most probably buy another HP. The ink costs more but my old HP printer lasted for about 6 years and even though the ink cartridges cost more, it seems like they lasted a lot longer, too. I could also refill them. Oh, well, I should have stayed with what I knew.
poor choice, poor support case#2397385 December 24, 2008 larry z (West Chester,Ohio) I fell for claim of lower ink cost per picture.Kodak showed no concern with my 25-30 4x6 pics per cartridge, told me to use lower quality setting.I think printer misreads amount of ink remaining.Sorry I purchased printer and 2 Kodak cameras.
Great quality December 20, 2008 Robert Watson (Cbad,CA,USA) I'm very impressed by great print quality and sharpness of type. It was easy an set up of the 5300. Photo quality is exceptional. I also have a 5100 for family use and both units use the same ink catridges which is extremely convenient. The software set up was quick, easy and painless. All good and highly recommended.
Horrible Software Problems December 17, 2008 Kacy Latham (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this printer a year ago and first installed it on an older computer. It worked fine for a while then it stopped half-way through the photos and spit out the paper. The only way I could fix it was by uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I made numerous trips to the support site for new patches and updated drivers only to have it work sometimes... I bought a new HP PC this summer and I installed the software and printer. The half-prints stopped but now the Home Center software will not open even after reinstalling it and downloading drivers and so forth. I have to scan to my camera memory card and then put the card in my pc reader.
The only positive thing I have to say about this printer is the ink is cheaper. The photo quality is mediocre and it is horrible unless I use Kodak paper... Plain paper color prints are horrible. I wish they could work out the kinks and write better software. My old Kodak camera (I have a Canon now) also came with faulty software...
