Product Description USB connections are everywhere - chances are if you purchase a device that plugs into a computer, it uses a USB connector. Not all USB peripherals perform the same - many of the latest operate at high-speed and push data up to 40 times faster than standard USB. But you'll need a new connection to get maximum performance - the USB 1.1 connections on your computer won't do. Add the low cost Sonnet Allegro USB 2.0 PCI adapter card to your computer (install it in any available PCI slot) and bring it up to speed with the latest USB technology, "simply fast"!

Sonnet Allegro USB2 Adaptor November 10, 2008 Bill G (USA) Online ordered this PCI-card adaptor to add four USB2 ports to an old Dell Dimension c700 desktop running XP. Desktop only had original USB1x. Card dropped right in to a spare PCI slot, was found by XP, and worked right away. Remember, be sure the card is seated all the way into the slot, which can require the application of a grunting level of pressure until the pins seat. You'll feel it and see it when they go in all the way. Later, used a port on this card for a Linksys USB2 wireless adaptor that also worked fine first time. Worked fine too with a Sony USB digital still camera, and the wireless and the camera seemed to play nice together. Next up, a USB2 hard drive to supplement the overwhelmed 20GB original equipment.
Great card October 14, 2008 J. Barker (Sissonville, WV USA) Great pci card. Installed without any problems. XP recognized it and set it up right away. No problems.
USB 2 card works well June 23, 2008 Prairie Dog Works as advertised. Card shape is different than in the photo, but functions are the same. Helpful update to my old (2001) Mac computer.
Deep Sleep compatibility February 26, 2008 Scott Schuckert (Quakertown, PA USA) One issue that has plagued add-in USB cards for the Macintosh for years is problems with power saving. Either the computer will not sleep, will crash on waking or sleeping, or it will lose contact with the card and attached devices. This card, when used with Mac OS 10.5.2 specifically, seems to eliminate these problems. According to email from Sonnet support, this was fixed in the 10.5 beta, broken in 10.5 and 10.5.1, and now works properly. My G5 will enter deep sleep, and wake correctly, even with a USB floppy drive connected and a disk in the drive. Will other cards now work properly? Maybe, but so far only Sonnet has actually said so in writing. I'm very happy!
Simple to install, works perfectly February 15, 2008 Henry C. Wolford I ordered this to add USB2 to my Mac G4 MDD. As advertised, I opened the side door of the Mac, installed the card, turned on the Mac, and it worked perfectly from the very start. Now I can enjoy my new iPod which requires USB2 to synch. Good product at a good price.
