Product Description At 54 Mbps, the 802.11g-compatible SMCWPCI-G 54 Mbps Wireless PCI Card is five times faster than existing 802.11b devices. It easily handles media-rich content, such as large digital video and MP3 files, supercharging them through your network to your desktop at blazing speeds. And because the SMCWPCI-G is wireless, it saves you the time and expense of installing Ethernet cabling when you want to set up or expand a network, and makes it simple to relocate your desktop PC without rewiring. Moreover, it allows network users to wirelessly share a broadband Internet connection for access to corporate resources, the Internet, and e-mail, with the highest available level of industry-standard WEP encryption and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) security.

Easy...and it works! December 21, 2008 Rich (New Jersey) This was a very quick install that worked from the first minute it was completed. Whole effort less than 10 minutes.
EZ Connect.....yeah right. December 4, 2008 Paul Mosier This particular PCI wireless card was the most non-user friendly device I think I've every put into a computer. In fact, I never got it connected. After attempting on multiple occasions for what must have been four hours I never got this card to connect with my router. Some points to note:
-router is a 2Wire brand a/b/g network router, so if you have AT&T DSL this may not work for you -have not had any problem with the router in six months I've had it -utility software was non-existent
So, after entering the correct WEP encryption code into my network I ended up with limited connectivity and the inability to access the internet. At other times it would have no connectivity. After resetting the router about 10 times I gave up. My phone is 2.4 GHZ and I realize this can interfere with wireless wavelengths. So I unplugged basically everything that could transmit any radio waves. It still didn't work.
My only hint to why this thing doesn't work is that my PCI slot had only two distinct slots where as this card has three distinct slots. The card was the right size and fit without force.
The other thing that really annoyed me was that I've installed PCI wireless cards before with this router and they were essentially plug and play. Sorry to bring the rating on this down, but this was a terrible frustrating experience for me and I should have known better than to buy an $12 wireless card.
Happy November 1, 2008 William C. Lehman (Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The hardest part of installing this card was getting it out of the package an figuring out how to access my Dell desktop. It went in and connected to my Linksys router immediately. No software needed. Connects at 80% when the router is at the other end of the house. Happy indeed.
Wireless modem, quickly shipped October 31, 2008 Michael J. Domingue 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Product arrived very quickly, much more so than expected. It was simple to install and works well.
Works Wonderfully October 28, 2008 Les P. NY I am completely satisfied with the quality and was surprised that it worked as well as it does with such distance from the router. This item is just as great as others selling for about $50.
