poor aid December 23, 2008 Ira J. Marks (LI,NY) don't waste your money, attached EnGenius & range of my laptop decreaded as did all signal strength
Perfect Solution December 13, 2008 Angel (Glen Allen, Virginia United States) As stated by other reviewers, this thing simply works. I wanted to listen to streaming internet radio over my stereo. I first bought a $350 Squeeze Box that constantly dropped the internet connection and I returned it.
My next solution was to use my laptop as an interface and connect it to my stereo. My laptop also dropped the connection because the built in wireless antenna had poor receiving range.
I added the EnGeniuus Adapter and now I always have maximum connection. It has never once dropped a connection since I've added it. Installation is a breeze and no conflict with any hardware or software. I love it.
One last note. The company ships fast and packages well. It has been an all around great experience.
Data-connectivity problems November 29, 2008 Mike-in-Minnesota (Southern Minnesota, USA) The unit was easy and simple to install. The signal strength indicator appeared to be as good as one could possibly expect.
However, I found that I could NOT get any data to pass through the unit! (Well, RATZ.)
I resolved this by UNPLUGGING the USB cable to the unit, then e-attaching it to my Windows XP computer. (I would "loose" the data through-put if I shut the computer off, then restarted it again; I would also "loose" the data connectivity if I did a restart.)
Once the unit was disconnected, then re-connected, the unit played just fine. (Many hours of perfect use, with no troubles! -As long as I did not restart, etc.)
The unit came with version 1.7 of the driver software on a CD; I was able to locate version 2.0 or 2.1, which I applied; No change or help was noted.
Could Have Done Better November 26, 2008 Toreadoralpha (Baghdad, Iraq) The removable antenna has an atypical RF connector. If you want to use an external antenna other than the one provided you must take the unit apart, remove the antenna cable and connect your own with a standard RF connector. What a pain. If you are not an electronic technician, stay away from this. If you don't need a external antenna other than the one provided, this will work fine.
I reviewed this item already???????????????? November 25, 2008 pleasedontstopthemusic (Cyberspace, TX) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I starting to believe that amazon.com doesn't publish scathing reviews because I reviewed this purchase already. If I have to do this one more time I will be thru with amazon.com. This company charged me a restocking fee of 20% and took 3 days to charge back my credit card after I called them. What do I think? Don't waste your time your gonna loose money in the process.....and by the way the engenius antenna did not work at all!!!!
