Use ADVC110 to connect analog and digital video cameras, decks and editing systems. ADVC110 is a portable and easy-to-use digital video converter compatible with Windows and Mac OS computers. At the heart of ADVC110 is the innovative Canopus DV codec chip, providing the industry's best picture quality during analog-to-DV and DV-to-analog conversion. ADVC110 also features a color bar reference signal generator to further enhance its integration into any video production environment. There are no drivers to install and ADVC110 does not require a power supply when used with a 6-pin FireWire cable. Connected it to the firewire input on my iMac OS X 10.5.2 and read in several VHS tapes into iMovie HD. It was easy to connect to my VHS tape player and showed up in iMove HD. The home movies came out better than the original tape. The iLife program iDVD burned it to a disk that I could play on my DVD player.
The monitor output on the Canopus ADVC110 made it easy to watch on my TV as I was loading it.

It does just what I was hoping for, allowing me to convert old analog video to digital without sending it out.
